Joint Programming and Implementation – Expanding Alliance

JOINT PROGRAMMING AND IMPLEMENTATION - EXPANDING THE ALLIANCE

The  tasks to be conducted under this topic area will continue the work done by the 7th Framework programme  STAR Network of Excellence (STAR NoE) and the European Radioecological Alliance (European Radioecology Alliance) to strengthen research on the impact of radiation on man and the environment. They will:

PROMOTE INTEGRATION BY:

Enhancing collaboration
Organising joint seminars with networks and organisations based in Europe or Worldwide

Exploiting to full potential large infrastructure
Such as sharing equipment and facilites used in radioecology research

Conduct joint research at radioecological observatories
The observatory sites chosen by COMET are at Chernobyl and at a disused mine and processing site based in Poland; one is also likely to be established at Fukusima

At the end of the COMET project, the results of all joint activities conducted as part of the project will be evaluated together with those from the European Radioecology Alliance,NERISMELODI and OPERRA to give recommendations for future research as part of the HORIZON 2020 programme.
DEVELOP MECHANISMS FOR JOINT PROGRAMMING BY:

Establishing criteria and processes
For prioritising research areas

Creating a roadmap

For next five years of radioecological research

Updating the PDF icon Strategic Research Agenda
With input from stakeholders

COMET will work with PDF icon OPERRA towards developing common criteria and mechanisms for joint programming for radiation protection research. Based on these common mechanisms, COMET will create a specific joint programming and implementation plan for radioecological research
