Finnish groundwater monitoring data

Finnish groundwater monitoring data

Abstract

These data comprise activity concentrations of natural radionuclides (222Rn, gross alpha, 226Ra, 228Ra, 234U, 238U, 210Pb, 210Po & 232Th) from drilled well water, groundwater and water from waterworks. From part of the drilled well and dug well samples, about 1500, over 55 other water quality parameters have been analysed. The data consist of approximately 6500 drilled wells, 4500 dug wells and 1500 water works.

QualityData have been collected as a part of STUKs environmental monitoring program since 1961. Since 1999, radioactivity determinations have been carried out using an accredited method with regular quality control through intercomparisons, calibrations and blank samples. Prior to 1999, in-house quality evaluation took place with similar quality assessments.
