Overview of the role

The successful candidate will manage the EPA’s Radiometric Laboratory, an accredited laboratory and must demonstrate a record of achievement that demonstrates both their technical and the leadership capability. The person appointed will be responsible for managing the national radiation monitoring network and must demonstrate experience in successfully engaging with a diverse range of external stakeholders. The person appointed will be responsible for managing and leading a multi-disciplinary team and will also be part of the management team in the laboratory contributing to the management and continuous improvement of the programme area.

The principal responsibilities relate to the implementation of the EPA’s statutory functions, involving environmental monitoring & assessment, environmental research and development and radiological protection. The person appointed should have the capacity to lead other EPA business units/teams in the future as the assignment and area of work may subsequently change in accordance with organisational requirements.
